The session of 2008 was one filled with challenges and required determination and hard work to accomplish Representative Weter's goals.

Ray fulfilled a request by the emergency services of Christian County to set in motion the process of consolidating the 911 services. This consolidation process will allow a more streamlined and efficient emergency system to be put into place. SB 1039 was sent to the Governor for his signature.

As with all other bills handled by Ray Weter on the house floor, it passed with a near unanimous vote, evidence of the effort he has made to earn the respect of the full house. With the passage of SB 1039, Representative Weter has successfully handled four bills in his four year tenure. This is very difficult to achieve. The citizens of the 142nd District can rest assured that they have a effective, responsible voice in Jefferson City.

As Vice-Chairman of Health, Mental Health and Social Services, Representative Weter is pleased that with his support, the appropriations for Alternatives to Abortion Services for Women survived the budget process. (HB 10) This bill was strongly supported by the Missouri Right to Life.

HB 1055 established the Alternatives to Abortion Program as a permanent program in state law and authorized advertising for it. In addition, it mandated that abortion centers must meet the health and safety standards of ambulatory surgical centers. Ray co-sponsored this bill (2007) and proudly voted for these items which were endorsed by the Missouri Right to Life.
